Ballet 3/4 Pre-Professional

This class is open to Senior Pre-Professional dancers, both level 3 and level 4 should register.

This class is designed for members of our Pre-Professional Program only. Director's approval is needed to register for this class.

All Dance classes begin in the fall and progress through the spring session. The student should register for the same dance class for the entire academic year. For beginner and lower-level classes, new students should enroll according to the age requirements stated in the schedule. All new students with any questions regarding placement level or schedule should email Carolyn Hanna for more information.

Returning students will be advised by email prior to a new session regarding class assignments, or should email the address above. Please do not call the Registrar’s office for placement information. Enrollments are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

• Registration begins the second week of August for the fall semester, and the second week of January for the spring semester.
  
• Parking Permits and OHPE Building Entrance Rules Temporary parking permits for classes located in the Ornelas Health and Physical Education Building (OHPE) and Fine Arts Building will be emailed out to purchasers once registrations are received—register through RTDC and ask for your permit at that time.

Dress Code

Hair: All students with long hair must wear it in a bun, tightly secured with no stray hairs. For short hair, secure with barrettes/pins off the face. Boys may use a one-piece bandana to tie short hair back.

GIRLS/WOMEN:

• Ballet:
  • Plain leotards, colored according to level, without sequins, flowers, prints on them. Style is the choice of the student, but when in doubt, ask your instructor before purchasing. See dress code graphic for color specifications.
  • Footed or convertible pink tights, either with or without the seam down the back.
  • Pink ballet slippers
  • Pointe shoes for Ballet 3 and Ballet 4 when approved by the director.
• Modern & Jazz:
• Black leotard, black tights, jazz pants or shorts, hair pulled away from the face, and jazz shoes.
• Hip Hop: comfortable clothing & shoes, hair pulled away from the face.
• Just Dance
• Comfortable clothing, jazz shoes, clean sneakers (that have not been worn outside), hair pulled away from the face. Optional: ballet slippers.
• Differently Abled Dance
• Comfortable clothing, clean shoes, hair pulled away from the face. Optional: leotard, pink tights, ballet slippers.

Academy of Dance Policies

Missed classes may be made up in a comparable or lower-level class at any time; ask your instructor as to which class to attend. Make-up classes for missed or cancelled classes may be taken at any time during the session, but make-up classes cannot be “rolled over” into a future semester. Making up missed classes is optional. There are no refunds for missed classes, regardless of the circumstances. Students who discontinue attendance at classes enrolled may not transfer their enrollment to another student, nor are there refunds for non-attendance.

In case of classes canceled due to instructor illness or threatening weather, it shall be at the instructor’s discretion to schedule an extra makeup class, or to have students attend another class already in session.

Students may not substitute optional classes for required classes, nor substitute classes from another level without approval of instructor/director.
