Instruction in preparation and administration of designated medications by non-licensed nursing personnel employed in licensed health care agencies including the responsibilities associated with such administration.
Prerequisite: You must submit an Experience Documentation Report form documenting current employment on the first official training day of the program in a facility licensed under Health and Safety Code Chapter 242 in the capacity of a CERTIFIED NURSE AIDE or in a Personal Care Facility licensed under Health and Safety Code 247, State School, ICF-MR facility or in a correctional institution as a non-licensed direct care staff person. (HOME HEALTH AGENCIES & HOSPITALS ARE NOT LICENSED FACILITIES UNDER THE MEDICATION AIDE REGULATIONS). Or you can submit an Experience Documentation Form documenting 90 days of employment in a Personal care Facility licensed under Health and Safety Code Chapter 247, State School, ICF-MR facility or correctional institution as a non-licensed direct care staff. This employment must have been completed within the 12-month period preceding the first official day of class date. AN APPLICANT EMPLOYED AS A CERTIFIED NURSE AIDE IS EXEMPT FROM THE 90 DAY REQUIREMENT. You must pay an additional $25 for the state application and show a negative TB skin test or negative chest X-ray. Clinicals: You are required to attend a specified number of hours for clinicals. These clinicals may be scheduled during the day or night, depending on the clinical facility availability. While the instructor will make every attempt to work around a your other commitments, flexibility is required in every student’s schedule. This applies to students enrolling in day OR night classes.
