Dementia is not a specific disease.
It’s an overall term that describes a wide range of symptoms associated with a decline in memory or other thinking skills severe enough to reduce a person’s ability to perform everyday activities.
This course is designed to give caregivers an insight into the difference between Alzheimer’s and dementia, learn ways of communicating effectively and compassionately with a person who has dementia, introduce meaningful engagements into the day and create activities in the moment, deal with challenging behavior, and use a person’s Life Story to build happiness, reduce challenging behaviors and foster cooperation.
