Program Description
Law Enforcement
This 3-day, 24-hour class is specifically designed for law enforcement professionals involved in homicide investigations, including detectives, supervisors, patrol officers, DA investigators, and prosecutors. The course provides comprehensive coverage of basic homicide and cold case investigations, starting from when the initial call is received and progressing through investigative strategies to courtroom testimony. Participants will learn about the responsibilities of patrol officers and detectives at the crime scene, as well as how to interpret the crime scene and employ effective interview strategies. The class also delves into advancements in forensics, including the handling, transportation, and storage of forensic evidence, as well as new developments in DNA and familial DNA testing. Cold case investigation techniques are explored, with participants given the opportunity to work on previously worked cases, gaining valuable hands-on experience.
On-Campus
Training is intended for Peace Officers, Law Enforcement Officers, Detectives, Supervisors, and Patrol Officers. A TCOLE number is required for TCOLE credit.
No civilians are allowed.
