Program Description
Welcome to the Basic County Corrections Course! Designed to prepare you for certification as a county jailer, this course covers essential knowledge and skills required for the role. Throughout the 120-hour program, you'll engage with dynamic instructional materials including presentations, quizzes, and hands-on activities. Led by experienced instructors, you'll delve into topics such as TCOLE rules, mental health, de-escalation techniques, and classification procedures. Continuous assessment ensures your comprehension, while scenario-based learning reinforces practical application. By the end of the course, you'll be equipped to excel in your role as a certified county jailer, ready to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and safety.
Must be a sponsored or hired jailer to attend. Refer to TCOLE Rule 217.1-Minimum Standards for Enrollment and Initial Licensure for more information about regulations.
Class open for Smith County at no cost.
Registration forms will be submitted after the first day of class.
Training is intended for Peace Officers, Law Enforcement Officers, Detectives, Supervisors, and Patrol Officers. A TCOLE number is required for TCOLE credit.
No civilians are allowed.
