School Marshal Certification

The curriculum for the School Marshal Training Program encompasses a comprehensive understanding of the School Marshal's history and authority, strategies for preventing school shootings, and methods for ensuring the safety of potential victims. Participants will gain knowledge in the appropriate use of force and force options specific to school marshals, familiarize themselves with the weapons they will use, and learn effective law enforcement strategies and techniques. The program includes participation in safe, reality-based training scenarios that replicate the situational environment school marshals must operate in. Due to the mentally and physically demanding nature of the course, students should be prepared for long training days.

Students will need:

• 800 rounds of ammunition for duty weapon (the ISD/Charter School is responsible for the initial purchase)
• Business casual clothing or BDU style pants for Firearms training – no shorts or tanks
• Closed toed shoes, tennis shoes or training boots – no flip flops
• Regular Kydex type holster; no shoulder, ankle, or fanny pack types
• Protective clothing for Simmunition training (Ex: long sleeves, thin workable gloves, groin protection)
• 3 extra ammunition magazines required
• Eye and ear protection for firearms training
• Pen/Notebook
• Drinking water or water bottle
• Hat with bill to be used on range days
• Jacket/sport coat/blazer for concealment practice on range days
