Watercolor & Gouache Painting Workshop
Tyler Junior College Classes
Program Description
In this relaxed, supportive workshop taught by Marsha Blount, participants will learn the process of using watercolor washes and gouache paint on a variety of papers to explore the techniques of developing a variety of modern abstract designs. In demonstrations, participants will observe methods to make a variety of brushstrokes to create line variation, color mixing, value and shadows, texture, pattern, and rhythm.
As well as adding paint, students will use the subtraction methods of lifting, blotting, and scraping paint with a variety of tools to create intriguing possibilities that can be developed into compelling abstract compositions. By the end of the workshop, students will have several pieces of abstract art ready to display.
All materials are included. Participants may take a lunch break or bring a sack lunch.
*To register for the course, participants must be 16 years of age or older.
