Program Description
This multi-level studio class offers a rich exploration of art combining drawing and painting art forms. Whether new to the processes or refining your skills, these classes are designed to guide participants through a variety of lessons in art. Emphasis will be placed on how to skillfully manipulate color and line to create shadows, convincing light and space in a picture to create atmospheric and linear perspective. Throughout the semester, techniques in line, shading, blending, contour drawing, value scales, color theory, mixing, contrast, shadows, atmospheric and linear perspective.
Your instructor will demonstrate how to use a variety of brushes and brushstrokes, different kinds of papers, and tools needed for drawing, including graphite, ink, and charcoal, as well as painting in watercolor, gauche, and oils. Merging with the studies of contemporary and historical artworks, participants will create a variety of still lives, landscapes, cityscapes, figurative, and abstract works.
*To register for the course, participants must be 16 years of age or older.
